Custom-Engineered Test Chambers for Non-Standard Requirements

Not every test fits into a standard chamber. Oversized samples, integrated power and data connections, multi-zone control, explosion-proof safety systems, or even a full laboratory build — these all require engineering beyond a catalog product.

LIB Industry has a dedicated custom engineering team that works directly with customers to design, build, and commission test solutions built around their exact product, process, and facility requirements. The case studies below are just a small sample of the custom projects LIB Industry has delivered.

Our Custom Engineering Capabilities

· Non-standard chamber geometry — reshaping chambers (round to square, added lifting hatches, oversized doors) to fit the actual test article

· Integrated fixtures and racks — custom sample racks, aging carts, and mounting hardware designed around the customer's product

· Power and signal integration — routed wiring, connectors, and pass-throughs so samples can be powered and monitored during test

· Safety systems — explosion-proof workrooms, fire suppression, smoke alarms, and exhaust systems for battery and high-risk testing

· Multi-zone and multi-chamber control — independent temperature/humidity/gas control across multiple workrooms or units

· Full laboratory design — planning and equipping entire test labs to meet specific standards (e.g., MIL-STD) within a customer's available space

Case Studies

IPX7 Immersion Testing for Photovoltaic Panels

A customer needed to immersion-test full-size PV panels to an IPX7 rating. Standard immersion tanks are cylindrical and not well suited to flat, rigid panels, so LIB Industry reshaped the tank into a square design with a custom sample rack that could hold multiple panels per run. Because the panels were large and heavy, LIB Industry added a top-opening hatch with a pulley-and-rope lifting system to make loading and unloading practical and safe.

Custom Temperature Chamber for Motor Testing

A motor manufacturer needed to run temperature testing on a motor connected to an external drive shaft, with the control system housed separately from the test workroom and linked by piping. LIB Industry engineered a chamber with the motor mounting fixture built into the workroom, shaft pass-throughs on both sides per the customer's drawings, and a separated control cabinet connected via ducting.

High/Low Temperature Aging Chamber for RTUs

A customer needed to run high/low temperature cycling on 100+ networked RTUs (remote terminal units) at once, powered and connected throughout the test. Beyond meeting the stated temperature range and ramp rate, LIB Industry engineered dedicated aging carts sized to the customer's exact layout, wired with the correct connector type for each unit, added a ramp for loading the roughly 800 kg cart assembly, and specified ESD-safe braked casters — turning a chamber spec into a complete, ready-to-run test rig.

Combined Salt Spray and Mixed Gas Chambers for Server Testing

A customer needed to corrosion-test rack-mounted servers of different heights (1U/2U/4U) while the servers remained powered on during test. For the salt spray chamber, LIB Industry added internal cooling to offset the significant heat load generated by the running servers. For the companion mixed-gas chamber, LIB Industry engineered a chamber capable of running multiple live 4U servers simultaneously under a four-gas corrosive atmosphere, with a detachable shelf system to accommodate the different server heights.

Explosion-Proof Chambers for Li-ion Battery Cell Testing

A battery manufacturer needed several multi-chamber temperature and humidity units for testing lithium-ion cells at temperatures up to 150℃. Given the safety risk of testing batteries at high temperature, LIB Industry built explosion-proof workrooms, doors, and observation windows into each chamber, along with smoke detection, exhaust, and fire suppression systems — plus independently controlled compartments so different temperature/humidity profiles could run side by side.

Building a Complete MIL-STD Test Laboratory

A customer needed to build a new lab, from the ground up, capable of running waterproof, dustproof, and corrosion testing on PCBs, electronics, and metal parts to MIL-STD requirements. Working within the customer's available lab space, LIB Industry planned the full equipment layout and specified a matching set of MIL-STD-compliant chambers — covering temperature/humidity, combined temperature/humidity/vibration, rain, sand and dust, and salt spray testing — as a complete, integrated laboratory solution.
